How it works
The development and production of aircraft equipment has always been considered one of the trump cards of states leading in the world arena. However, there are also a few small countries in which some equipment was produced and that took their rightful place in the history of aviation. Among them - Czechoslovakia, divided at the end of the last century into independent Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the post-war period, the "skate" of its aviation industry was reactive training and combat training aircraft.
Created in 1956, L-29 Delfin was recognized as the winner in the competition for a jet trainer for the Warsaw Treaty Organization (WTO) countries. It marked a new era in the training of pilots, proved to be very simple in piloting and unpretentious in operation, quickly fell in love with aviators. At the same time. there were a number of shortcomings in the aircraft, and attempts to eliminate them showed that Delfin had "little potential for modernization." In addition, the rapid development of aviation put forward new requirements for the training of young pilots. As the consequences the first L-39 made it's flight already in 1968.
