Brief history of Star City
January 11, 1960, the first Cosmonaut Training Center was created, around which the settlement soon grew up. In 1965, the Training Center was renamed to the 1st Cosmonaut Training Center, and in 1968 was named after Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin. With the passage of time, it became necessary to combine the practical training of cosmonauts with scientific work and testing of new technologies. In this regard, in 1969, the 1st Cosmonaut Training Center (CTC) was again transformed into the 1st Scientific Research Cosmonaut Training Center named after Y. A. Gagarin. It must be said that even after the fall of the socialist regime, the CTC continued to fulfill its tasks. In 2009, the status of the Star City changes, which ceases to be a military unit and becomes a civil organization. The main task of the CTC today is the preparation for the flight of cosmonauts and various research work in space. Many CPC simulators are unique equipment that exists only in a single copy.
